Although United States has outlawed online gambling completely after the October 2006, the governments of most European countries have adopted the entirely opposite concept and are trying their best to liberalize the online gambling legislation; making it a profitable market for the online gambling operators.
Even if England has 1/5 of the population of the United States, it spends to the same extent that Americans usually does when it comes to gambling and it has been proved by the figure issued by GBGC (Global Betting and Gaming Consultants). The UK expenditure in online gambling is taking the same pace nowadays. So, what actually attracts the people to online gambling and whether or not there are any risks involved?
The basis of US’s ban at online gambling stalks from a report that was issued by the NGISC (National Gambling Impact Study Commission) in the year 1999. According to that study, ‘the presence of a gambling facility within 50 miles roughly doubles the prevalence of problem and pathological gamblers’. Of course, due to arrival of online gambling, gambling was possible to access right from the home as well. So, it was highlighted that online gambling offer more gambling opportunities, thus, the people turn out as compulsive gamblers to a great extent. After being obsessed with online gambling, they don’t minimize their gambling habit no matter they win or they loss. If they win, they keep on playing more and if they loss, they still keep on participating at online gambling, of course, to recover their losses until they find themselves in such a situation where they will have nothing to stake.
However, despite the awful warnings from the America, a wide range of people are participating in online gambling these days and it’s obviously because of the additional features that arrives with online gambling. Even though it’s illegal to gamble online in the America, the evidence from the European Countries clearly illustrate that it’s here to stay, continuing to flourish into the near future.
